H.S.Oil Adjuvant Vaccine
- Definition:-
- H.S.(O.A.V.) is a homogeneous suspension of formalised Pasteurella multocida ,blended with liquid paraffin and lanolin.
- The vaccine is intended to use for protection of valuable livestock against H.S. It produces strong immunity of longer duration, which can last for one year. Premonsoon vaccination is recommended every year.
- Dosage and Administration:-
- Cattle and Buffaloes (Above 140 kg.)
- 3 ml. by deep intramuscular injection in neck or hip region.
- Calves (Less than 140 kg.)
- 2 ml. by deep intramuscular injection.
- Sheep and Goats
- 1ml. by deep intramuscular injection.
- Transient reactions may appear in isolated cases and animal may show signs of nasal discharge , panting, tremors and lacrimation etc. These should subside in short time. However, if required, the animal may be treated with antihistaminics or similar drugs.
- It starts developing on 7th day after inoculation and is complete after 21 days. It lasts for one year.
- Keep at room temperature for a short time The bottle should be shaken well before use.
- Keep the bottle away from direct sunlight..
- Gently massage the site of inoculation, after administration of vaccine
- The bottle opened once should be utilised fully on the same day.
- Sterile syringes and needles should be used.
- Use of antihistaminics or similar drugs is advised in case of any generalised reaction noticed after vaccination.
- Separate needle should be used for drawal of vaccine from vial and inoculation.
- Vaccine vials showing cracks or damaged stoppers should not be used.
