Ranikhet Disease Vaccine(Mukteshwar)

    Definition:-
  • Ranikhet Disease vaccine is a suspension of modified living virus (Mukteshwar R2B strain) prepared from infected embryos and fluid and is freeze-dried.
  • Use:-

  • Chicks of 8 to 10 weeks of age.
  • Doses and Administration:-

  • 0.5 ml. of the reconstituted vaccine to be injected subcutaneously in wing web region.
  • Reactions:-

  • About 1 to 3 percent of the birds may show reactions like paralysis after vaccination. The vaccine is recommended for use as a second vaccination in birds of 8 - 10 weeks of age, after doing a primary vaccination in the first week of age in chicks, using 'F' strain or 'LaSota' stain. The post-vaccination reactions will be more severe, in the absence of primary vaccination.
  • Immunity:-

  • It lasts all through the life if no incidence of breakdown occurs, due to infection in surrounding area etc.
  • Precautions:-

    • Transport of vaccine on ice is essential to maintain cold chain.
    • Store in freezing chamber of the refrigerator.
    • Reconstitute carefully in the chilled diluent, and mix well before administration.
    • Use within 2 hours after reconstitution. Keep on ice.
    • De-worm the birds before vaccination.
    • Do not apply Tr. iodine or spirit while vaccination.
    • Use sterile syringes and needles.

    Storage:-

    • At -150 C to -200 C............... One year from the date of manufacture.
    • At 00 C to 40 C .....................One month.

  • Ampoule/vial containing 200 doses. Diluent:- Bottle containing 100/200 ml.of N.S.S.
