Marek’s Disease Vaccine
- Definition:-
- This vaccine is prepared by using an FC-126 strain of turkey herpesvirus in chicken embryo cell culture. It is a cell-free freeze-dried vaccine.
- The vaccine is used for protection of day-old chicks from Marek’s Disease. The vaccine should be used in chicks immediately after hatching.
- 0.2 ml. of vaccine intramuscularly in thigh muscles.
- Normally no reactions are seen.
- It lasts throughout the life of the bird.
- Transport of vaccine on ice is essential to maintain cold chain.
- Store in freezing chamber of the refrigerator.Do not freeze the vaccine.
- Reconstitute carefully in a chilled diluent, and mix well before administration.
- Use within 2 hours after reconstitution. Keep on ice.
- Do not apply Tr. iodine or spirit while vaccination.
- Use sterile syringes and needles.
- At 00 C to 40 C .................For six months.
- 250/500 doses per vial.
- A bottle containing 100 ml. Sucrose phosphate buffer solution.
